Northeast Tennessee | The town nearest me had a 1200 foot beer ordnance from a school or church until last year, changed to 400 foot from the main entrance of place selling beer to the main entrance of a school or church. The state handled the liquor licenses where the 1200 foot distance before 2025 didn't apply. The pizza joint guy should have checked on selling beer within 100 foot of the main church entrance before buying the pizza place, of course he might have and gotten wrong info from the county if he checked since they issued him a beer license. Maybe a compromise between the pizza joint and church might be not to sell beer until 30 minutes after church services on Sunday morning and he could sweeten the deal by giving a good discount on carry out for the church functions. By not being friendly with the church, the pizza guy is only hurting himself. I figure this compromise likely won't work with him so close to the church. | |
