| First, I agree 1000' is overkill. However it is not a rule, it is the law, established by the county. The church had every right to oppose the change. They should have been informed at the start. In fact, any citizen had the right to oppose it. Maybe people bought homes in that neighborhood because it was quiet area. How was the church was forcing their religious beliefs on others? Lot of towns have similar laws, also restrictions around schools, would you oppose that?
It could have also been a daycare, hospital or whatever that may have been affected by some zoning law. There are all kinds of zoning laws that people may not agree with. Laws can be changed, but others have the right to oppose it | |
