Subject: RE: Church vs. Pizza Joint

Big Ben - 5/23/2026 14:47  It might become the church’s problem if the town’s people like the pizza joint as it is and then it stops serving beer and eventually closes. Sure, the law might be on the church’s side, but that doesn’t mean public opinion will be, and not many churches can afford for that to go against them.

If the public overwhelmingly supports the owner of the pizza joint serving beer it shouldn’t be that hard for him to get the ordinance changed.

I’m of the belief that a 1000’ ordinance against selling beer in proximity to a church is silly but It’s not the churches problem that the current law is on their side.
The owner of the pizza establishment dropped the ball when he bought it and it’s on him to deal with it within the constraints of the law.   Whether that be getting the ordinance changed through the proper procedure, operating without selling beer or closing up shop.
