What else are we gonna do with it?? We can’t process it in house, our refineries aren’t set up to handle it. The cost to switch or even to build a plant to handle our domestic oil is unfeasible. Last I heard it was a 30 year payback. With the folks who are pushing the green new deal agenda and climate activists who’s gonna shell the money for a new refinery????
Correct.. Modern Complex refineries are expensive to build and must be run hard to maintain operating efficiences..
In the US along the gulf coast we have highly "complex" refineries capable of cracking heavy crude like what comes from Venezuela.. During the winter most max distillate.. heating oil.. about now they switch to max gasoline.. andcsone max high octane gasoline.
With E 15 they can stay on Max distillate.. and get the octane from ethanol.

That is why this works.. Petroleum is still the cheapest basic btu's.. ethanol adds ictane.. reduces benzene needs.. which causes leukemia.. and if the auto industry adds higher compression/turbos. Then you capture the full benefits.. translating the hp from added ethanol into fuel economy.
Iit's actually NOT such a crazy idea.. if your goal is to extend the life span of the internal combustion engine.. and why API supports this.
We just need this weeks House passed legislation pass the Senate (or some form of) and implemented.
It'll work.
Let the consumer/market dictate the blend sold for each individual market.. in ethanol country.. we've already proven that we Love Cheaper, Cleaner Ethanol enhanced blends.. so be it.
We lift ourselves up in the process.. this plays to our Nations Strengths
