Central IL | I wanted to put lights, compressed air, and battery maintainers in a remote machine storage shed. Monthly minimum charges for electricity were about $60 so $720 per year. Instead I put up two solar panels, a LiFePO battery and a 12 to 120 volt inverter. It is capable of lighting the 80 X 40 shed for 8 hours, battery maintainers 24/7, and a small air compressor for about 45 minutes per day. Total cost was $450 for the electric generation materials and less than 3 hours of my time. Battery life rated at 10 years and other equip should last longer. Payoff less than 8 months.
