American Soybean Association does not receive checkoff funds. ASA is funded by member's dues and corporate sponsors to lobby on behalf of the soybean industry.
Your checkoff funds get split half to the United Soybean Board, and half to your state soybean commission (at least in Kansas, I assume other states are similar). They use the checkoff funds to fund production research and market development (exports, new uses, etc.). Legally, checkoff funds cannot be used for lobbying or other policy work. | |
