S Illinois | I always see this idea as to what should be done instead of on farmland. I would put forward a thought exercise though.
If you needed much more grain storage space/drying capacity are you taking all your current storage and adding rings and shoehorning the dryer in your exact current setups footprint? Or would you start with a fresh location?
While this isn’t a perfect comparison, putting large scale solar panels on roofing would require much much more cost and hassle. Some of which includes structural analysis, much larger installation and maintenance costs(not cheap to work 15’ in the air), liability issues since the solar company is likely to have no control over the structure built on, and siting issues with regards to building orientation and sun angles. | |
