Subject: RE: Ethanol Question

Townsend, Montana
Ethanol is a viable fuel source. I don't know about production costs.

My understanding is that diesel engines can run on it if the compression ratio is increased. Head gasket/liner flange longevity will be a problem but I have no doubt it can be fixed. The biggest problem is getting hpcr injectors to survive. Ethanol has minimal lubricity and does attract water - bad combo for injectors. But I have no doubt a solution can be found if the market demands it.

As for running out of oil, Google "abiogenic oil". Oil might not be exactly as we've been told and we likely will never run out. Maybe not have enough to go around 100%, but we're not going to completely run out.
