Over the years, my team made shifting and inching improvements with each generation of tractor but been pushing twenty years and don't recall in detail what we made better on the C-Series.

Is the 5 to 4 downshift abrupt on the tractor your looking at? That's the most demanding shift dictated by physics of the design.
