Sent my tax payment in April 6th, priority mail. Come the 10th, the tracking number still showed it had never gone anywhere. Went back to PO, postmaster said "It'll get there, it must be in between here and Nashville and hasn't been scanned in". Checked it on deadline day, still no update. It'll be a month late this Friday. I would have just paid them online but the state of KY said no online payments this year due to some software updates causing glitches and your payment may not go through.. well USPS apparently is more glitchy than that. Re-printed the form last night, scanned a copy of original cancelled check and original tracking number and enclosed a new check for the exact amount and will overnight today. Wife is stopping previous check this morning which will probably cost us $25 or $30 I'm sure. I typed up a little note to the effect of online payments not being accepted, and the federal government lost my payment to the state government, so if there's any late fees they need to take it up with the USPS. Already know how that's gonna go but I'm sick of how difficult something so simple should be, they've been taking this money out of our pockets for over 200 years, you'd think they'd have a better system.
