I’d use piece of number 9 wire. Worked for me. Found many a new house well after test holes were all dry. I’d find it and then walk back and let owner try it. About 20% could make it work. Those that it wouldn’t work for I’d take my hand and place on their shoulder and we’d walk to the spot of water and about 80% of those the wire would go down for. Made for some whoopin and hollering. Also made for some real happy women folks.
I've found the same thing. Put my hands on their shoulder and the wires cross. Why does it work, don't know, but it does. Another thing some guys would do is witch the spot, get a tall glass of water held over the spot and drop a silver dime into the glass. Based on how many times the dime flipped they could predict the depth to good water. |
