I guess I'm the oddball. I usually set my jd 1890 at 1.25 or 1.5 inch and it's always came up fine. But I'm straight no till so no worry of crusting. But I'm on the dry side of the state and would rather get it into moisture than lay it shallow and have it dry out and not rain for a month after
