Minnesota | My current planter has been totally reworked with Precision Planting vSet2 meters, DeltaForce, and Speed Tubes. I don't even care if the yield is better than an old ground drive planter. I know it's not worse.....I would not give up any of the Precision equipment on my planter. I know that I can plant faster and do as well (probably better) than the original planter going at traditional field speeds. So, it pays (for me) by getting more done with more confidence in a limited amount of time.
I *think* that the DeltaForce is beneficial for us since we farm in sticky wet/cold soil in Minnesota that his very prone to compaction in the spring. If nothing else, it makes it less stressful for me having some data based information to make downforce adjustments. Section control has been a huge benefit for us since we have quite a few odd shaped fields and some with a lot of obstacles to plant around.
I have no doubt that a good planter operator could putz around planting 4 mph constantly stopping to check and adjust the planter. I don't have the time or the patience to do that. Someone with the newest high tech planter on the market can also screw it all by lack of attention, too. You still have to think and pay attention to the details with a new planter.
