south central IL | If you run your finger meters each year and fix anything that needs it, the chains and bearings are all good and you drive slow you can plant a very consistent stand with an older setup. Maintenance is the key. We went the precision route and really like the speed and convenience but a few neighbors still use finger pickups and their corn looks pretty darn good. I don’t have any dollar per acre comparisons to prove anything though.
