Actually options on a per acre basis are very expensive insurance. If they are cheap, they tend expire worthless. If they are expensive, the cost eats up most or all of the hoped for gain.
As long as you make lots of small mistakes, you're upside is pretty open (just sell more). Counting on a big move (always possible) and covering all your sales is pretty pricey. It's game best left to experts in the legislature who write laws to move the markets. | |
