| We added some acres this year and it came with some irrigated. The irrigated will be the early stuff.
With more acres I am concerned about punctuality. I think I’ll try to do both the irrigated and the dryland a little sooner than in the past.
If I could pick one day to plant all dryland corn it would be about June 3rd or so. I’d prefer to be done with dryland corn by June 5th and I REALLY don’t like planting corn on June 10th or later in my area. But when I try to start May 20th I seem to always end up planting after June 10th. I need to get away from the after June 10th stuff as I feel it’s risky on an early frost in the fall.
The only practical way I know to do that is to start a little earlier. Not ideal but it’s not practical to get everything planted in my preferred window when my preferred window often has weather delays. | |
