I believe the problem with Emmetsburg and Nevada Poet plants (cornstalks) was they could never find the optimal enzyme to break it down (or whatever it did) to make it worth doing in volume. It was always right around the corner until the funding ended LOL
It was such a cluster anyway. They squarebaled everything then left it sitting in the corner of the farmers' fields forever, before some was delivered to the plants. Then 2 and 3 years later they wrecked the surrounding cornstalk market by almost giving aways hundreds of thousands of half rotten bales. The whole thing seemed like a typical govt racket.
