Eastern Shore of MD | T-Rock, rough crowd today. Fuel is a big part of our irrigation budget here. We tried to buy some fuel mid feb but it was cold as heck in the Northeast then and our supplier said he was not sure he could source any due to its use a heating oil and even if he could find it the local basis was at least +$1.50 over rack when I think normal is about +$.30 over rack. So his suggestion was to wait a few weeks …. We all know what happened then so had to bite the bullet and buy a load. Our real issue will come in the summer as if we are pumping water hard we use a trailer load of fuel every 10-14 days. In hindsight we should have hedged some but that is easy to say now. | |
