East of Broken Bow | The problem with biomass ethanol, as I was told, was the lack of consistenly available constient quality raw materials for processing.
If you have ever bought corn, it is VERY VERY easy to get consistant loads of #2 corn delivered to your place, almost any time of the year, as long as the roads are passible.
If you have ever bought hay, it is VERY, VERY difficult to get consistent loads of good quality hay delivered to your place, unless you already have an ongoing relationship with somone who raises it.
I'm not an expert, but I have been told that mold in the biomass can cause problems with the distillation process, and mold is hard to keep out of hay completely. Also, there is a ready market for the by-product of corn ethanol, but biomass by product, not so much. | |
