Supa Dexta - 3/30/2026 05:52  Have your birthweights come down over the years? Any angus breeding? It doesn't take a lot of BW to make quite a frail difference in a calf, esp a finer boned angus calf.



Genetics can definitely play a part in how durable an animals bone structure is.    That is why I asked if he had changed breeds or even just different bulls of the same breed.

Most of my experience is with hogs but several years ago we were using a boar line that produced excellent hogs but they had a terrible problem with breaking their legs anytime the were being crowded and loaded onto trailers.    It was a bad enough problem we moved on from those genetics and that problem went away.
