My extremely uneducated opinion is that I am with you on this. Obviously Trumps wants this to go fast. Stalling / buying time is Iran's best option. Trump's impatience is spewing out with the threats of bombing desalination plants. Iran would love that. A clear cut war crime the world over lets them run the narrative to their benefit. The story writes itself for them. My guess is, the CO's would stand down on that unlawful order.
