NW Indiana | Because he doesn't understand how the business works. How would a farmer ever get paid much of the credit? Ethanol plants source grain with a basis just like every elevator. If they suddenly were to give a tax credit based on a carbon credit that would be a form of a basis for delivery so the actual basis would need to drop by a similar amount otherwise they would source too much grain. Either the way it was paid out from the law would need to change or the ethanol plant will be the only beneficiary. | |
