The function of price is to manage demand to meet supply. Beef is the superior product of the animal proteins and we have had very little demand destruction at this price tier----domestic or export. If we assume supply close to constant, what can change price? Energy is around 23 percent of the Bloomberg commodity index. Our economy is energy driven. I believe beefs Achilles is going to be the price of energy. High costs of energy will hurt the economy creating less disposable income for beef, thus less price.
