It’s a mf 1100, I can get one that threads into the block for $40 , but always thought the circulation ones like this worked faster?

Circulation heaters are often higher wattage. The same wattage block heater (frost plug or threaded in) will heat faster just because they're not losing heat to the air as fast.

Circulation heaters have to be installed correctly to circulate by convection, not hard to do. None of the common ones have a pump. They have thermostats and that's a common failure point. So I prefer in block heaters if possible.
