The only oring that matches your description is the one in the second pic, that seals the screen to the valve body so fuel can't bypass the screen. It doesn't look like it'd be effective at all at blocking fuel traveling from the bottom to the top of the pressure chamber.

Is there supposed to be a larger o-ring that seats down against those three protrusions in the pressure chamber, and seals against the bottom of that flange below the screen? No such o-ring came in my kit, and I can't tell that an o-ring like that was in this this pump originally either.
