As awful as this was, it’s way less awful than the scenarios where the pilots tried to avoid the collision at the last second.

Consciously or not, those guys gave their lives and saved their passengers.

So many times the last second “reflexive” response to a crash or collision makes it worse, but we’re humans and we’re wired that way.

I think it was Bob Hoover that said to always FLY the aircraft as far into the crash as possible, but the ground rushing up or in this case, a big fire truck is REALLY hard to ignore.
