Sometimes those unarmed fields fall into your lap.
I remember the 1980ies when farming was difficult financially. Used to plant soys for another farmer and his brother and got a call to see if I could plant another field for them.
A farm near them had been rented to a larger operation for some time but that operation could not afford to plant or rent the land again. When approached by land owner my friend said he could not afford to take on more then either so landowner said no rent due just crop it to keep weeds down so I got to plant it and they continued to operate the ground for years and were able to pay rent the next year.
