Subject: RE: Weddings

I was at a no kids wedding Sunday afternoon. I was very glad to not have kids even though that kept my 5,8,and 10 year old grandkids away. There was no place for them to play. They could of easily tripped an adult so they could all take a swim in the stone lined water feature. Well maybe we did need wild and crazy kids. As I was expecting one of the 2 photographers to fall into the water walking backward to the edge. But they never did.

Out here in the over flow of cityfied California for the 50 years of weddings I remember way back some were no kids. Not a new trend in my world. In 15 years have had 3 weddings on the ranch. More or less open cow pasture with large oak tree as center stage. I think kids were welcome but I sure don't remember them. Everybody wanted their own tree so 3 different spots. One was well off the road no guest driving themselves up the hill. Ride on a hay bale in a car trailer with a 4x4 truck pulling. Turned out much better than I thought. Even though my sister owns that part I cheated and took my wife and I with the JD Gator I normal ride that range with. Plenty of thistles and snakes a way ward person could of found only going 100 yards from cleared area.
Nice food is not cheap anyway you cut it. My son and his bride wanted picnic theme vibe to their wedding. Deli breads cold cuts, and cheeses for make your own sandwich with many salad options. I could of had top sirloin, beans, bread, and green salad for typical cowboy BBQ for less. Since I am pretty low brow the $50 to $100 a plate dinners I have had were no better.

The Sunday affair keeping with the times had vegan option , or the cowboy BBQ with chicken 1/4 if you did not want beef.

Sorry for all that are bent if your kids are not invited. Both have there place as it is the bride and grooms party to host as they wish. So your option to stay away too. They may not even miss you with all that goes on.
