WC IL | State of Illinois has a bill being considered about property taxes on mega projects. Supposedly it is directed at a new stadium for the Bears. But it will apply to any project over $100M. Property taxes will be locked at the value of the real estate it is built on, no taxes on the improvements. So if they pay $2M for the ground, that is all they will pay property taxes on, nothing for the $200M in buildings. | |
