NW Missouri | Was that the one south of Allendale, or are you talking about a different fire? That's the worst one I heard about over the weekend - I live a few miles from there. I saw several fire trucks going past my place Saturday morning to fill up with water, but they were headed the other direction. Later on Saturday they sent out a request for anyone with a tractor and disk to head to the one south of Allendale to try and help, but I was out of town by then.
MO doesn't seem to do a great job of saying when it's a reg flag warning day (I didn't hear that anywhere). However, if they'd looked at the forecast, it was pretty obvious that they shouldn't be burning. It's drier than normal here too - usually it is wet enough this time of year that burning is no problem. But with the winds they were forecasting, no one should have been lighting a match no matter how wet or dry it was. | |
