S.E. Sask.

As some have already said, when efi fails you are stopped. Unless you have a spare ignition module in the glove compartment and know how to replace it. Happened on my 81 GMC pickup a year or two ago. Years of maintenance free performance but when it failed it was without warning. With points type ignition I have "Macgyvered" my way home more than once. Dad's 64 Pontiac stalled on a road trip to the city one winter. Opened the distributor on the 230 six engine and found the contact spring had fallen off the rotor. We wired that back together with a pipe cleaner we found in the glove compartment and it got the Pontiac running again but stopped at the first gas station and picked up a new rotor not wanting to trust that pipe cleaner fix for long.
