The points setup can be a pain, but you can fix it with a straight screwdriver and a matchbook cover, can't say the same for a new vehicle. Just this weekend we were 3 hours from home and my wife's Buick started running bad. Acted like a bad vacuum leak, in some ways like a bad accelerator pump with a terrible idle issue. I had a scanner with me, read evap emissions large leak. Gas cap is good, purge valve is new, tested for a vacuum leak several days before. Could be a bad new purge valve, fuel tank pressure sensor, bad charcoal canister, bad fuel tank vent, wiring or ECU. Car sat for a couple hours and when I started it, it was magically fixed, at least until halfway home. I'd trade points for this BS any day.
