I don’t believe school functions like you mention would be in that data. You’re not absent if you showed up and got on a bus and I don’t believe your absent if your with an FFA advisor at a stock show or ag mech event, something official.
Excused is more like sick, death in the family type stuff. Unexcused are what adds up to truancy at some point, but there’s not always resources to deal with it.
