It’s a parent issue. Wife says the kids gone a lot in her class are the ones most behind.

You can make them make up days or whatever, but they are still going to be behind because they don’t care and their parents don’t care. Largely just wasting time.

The sad thing is they will be a constant burden to society. They tie up aid resources and severely limit the learning of kids who care.

Good teachers can change the life of a slow learner whose family wants them to succeed. You really can’t help someone who doesn’t care. Besides that it’s huge money in Texas anyway. If a class of 20 has 80% attendance average your taking half the teachers salary in lost state funding.
