North Dakota | This starts at home. You aren’t going to legislate, mandate or orchestrate some kind of stop gap solution. Then it falls on society as a whole with respect to classmate, teacher and public sentiment.
I was required to go to school unless I was deadly ill. My classmates were, by and large, the same. My parents worked hard, most everyday. Few vacations. Responsibilities were paramount. This carried an individual into adulthood with the same mentality. College and career. I can count on one hand the days I missed from grade school through high school graduation. Missed one day and skipped zero classes in college. Not bragging. It wasn’t really a choice. It was bred, beat and ossified into me from birth.
Many will roll their eyes but religion plays some part in this.
“Whatever you do, work at it with all your heart, as working for the Lord, not for human masters.” – Colossians 3:23.
“Diligent hands will rule, but laziness ends in forced labor.” – Proverbs 12:24
We all have unique skills, gifts and talents. Quality, character and ethics are foundational for our education and work life/careers. These important traits are formed early. First at home and then from society as a whole.
