Had a shop teacher in high school that almost lost his thumb using the table saw not too long before my freshman year. Year after i graduated, they got a new table saw with the laser or whatever it is that triggers the blade to stop and eject if an appendage gets too close. Literally just got it set up, first thing he did was try cutting a board and the same thumb trips the blade and ejects it.
