E.Central MN | It's hard to run it like a business when Congress has to approve any changes the USPS makes. I think a lot of the small post offices should be closed, pay other businesses to provide some of the services that people want when they go to a post office such as accepting packages. They should cut delivery to 3 days/week or even 2 days/week. That would require reducing the delivery routes because they'd handle a higher volume of mail/delivery day, but at the same time a smaller # of mail delivery people would be needed as they could handle two routes/week -- at higher pay. Maybe the heavier items would have to be handled separately from the regular mail delivery similar to the way the post office handled Amazon packages. It certainly looks inefficient to have them driving around delivering one or two pieces of junk mail... | |
