I wrote a congress person stating how bad the postal service has become. Mentioning that a check mailed to me a mile away hadn't reached me yet, 2 weeks had passed at the time. My checks to Carol Stream for credit card payments take 10 days. I said the Postal Service in general is a danger to commerce when it's that unreliable. Fortunately I got the following understandable reply: I agree that the USPS is a crucial service for homeowners and should remain a public entity. The postal service is vital, especially for rural communities, which provides reliable delivery of mail, medications, and packages to Iowans. The USPS offers an essential service that has been helping U.S. citizens since before the nation's founding. I value the USPS and will continue to work with both sides to improve the organization. As of now, there is no active legislation in Congress to privatize USPS. However, I still agree that keeping the USPS public is crucial, especially for rural communities and individuals who rely on reliable package and medication delivery. I will continue to work with colleagues from both sides to ensure that Iowans have access to reliable and easy services, including the USPS and other vital services. |
