Subject: RE: Does anyone still use Pivot Bio?

We had the ability to test the G3 last year. We did strips across the field in 4 different nitrogen blocks from 0lbs reduction down to 40lbs reduction. It was on some bottom ground that does have some sort of a drainage problems thinking that if this was a place that if we would see results it would be here due to the nitrogen loss we would have in general. Plants did have a noticeable difference at v4 along with increased root development in the pivot trials. We had 12+ inches of rain in July and know without a doubt we had nitrogen loss. When the combine ran through the field the untreated and treated yielded the exact same for the entire field. Looking at the data more on sms with some elevation data it did show some increase in yield in areas we were not expecting which was the higher elevation where water moved away from. Sat in on the advanced agrilytics trial results about a month ago and over their studies they saw similar results that it does show results in dryer well drained soils and that the flatter and wetter the acre is the more additional N is required along with the Pivot. It went against our overall goal with the pivot to have an "insurance policy" to have enough nitrogen in those areas we have nitrogen loss. I would rather just pay for the N lbs and know for sure I have that then rely on something that might or might not work. Do I think it has a place yes but I don't see it being a treat the entire box and plant all the acres. I could see us using it as a variable rate Rx. The acres that have a better drainage capacity and higher overall elevation in the field would get pivot applied and the acres that do not fit the criteria would get the normal N rate.
