Central IL
Just a few thoughts here. And for the record our coop sprays our farm but I also work for a chemical manufacturer.

First, speed does make a bigger difference in coverage. We see a larger percentage of fields tha need to be respirated when going over 20+ MPH. It also matters too what kind of chemicals you are using. Residuals vs post products. Contact killers vs systemic, etc.

Second, another important thing in getting a good kill is the amount of GPA being applied. The higher the better. Equates to better coverage and some nozzles and sprayer systems can’t get enough GPA applied when going too fast, but this all depends on the setup.

Third, with some of these newer pulsating nozzle bodies, they have a duty cycle allowing them to open and close and adjust pressure. If you overdrive, you exceed the duty cycle and they don’t put out the desired psi and gpa or can overheat and completely fail.

With all this said it is up to each farmer what their risk/reward ratio is when it comes to speed and efficiency vs spray quality. I tend to lean towards quality but to each their own.
