Deere and Case might have been on AEF's committee in 2008,

Correct....

Wiki - The AEF was founded in 2008 by John Deere, CNH, Claas, AGCO, Kverneland Group, Grimme and Pöttinger. The goal of this partnership is to promote the electronic standardization and assure that ISOBUS-implements and tractors from different brands can be connected without any problems.

I do not know the complete history for a CANBUS network on tractors/implements, but best I can determine is CASE had one starting in 2008 for their Case IH Magnum tractors that was designed for implements. Semi-trucks with Detroit/Cummins engines were using CANBUS around 1993.

"Mercedes-Benz was the first automaker to use CAN in a production vehicle with the W140 S-Class in 1991. That same year, Bosch published the CAN 2.0 protocol, and by 1993, ISO had ratified it as ISO 11898, cementing its global importance.,,,,,,By the mid-1990s, CAN was incorporated into OBD-II diagnostics systems, which became mandatory in the U.S. in 1996." https://www.extremeaudio.org/https-www-bestcaraudio-com-a-brief-hist...

Thx for tidbits....

I've been working on CANbus since 1997 on AGCO tractors, it may have been there a couple years before, and I would about bet that everyone else had them before your 2008 date. CAN and ISO are not the same standard, though they may communicate on the same bus as well. Before that it was mostly serial bus, going back into the late 80's from memory.

I appreciate the Google education, but if I need more help I'll go back through the almost 30 years of training manuals I have, the numerous industry contacts, and even the relationships I have built with engineers from some OEM's. I also know all about the AEF, ISO 11783 and 11876 standards, Aux-N, Aux-O, and most other ISO standards...again, I've been in the field making these products work together for many years.

My comments were merely to inform others that EVEN THOUGH some manufacturers say that they meet ISO standards on certain models and years of a machine, that is not always the case. That's all, and I don't need help deciding that software should be updated as I know full well what all is involved in making ISO products work. I have seen ISO products NOT work with certain CNH, or Deere displays AFTER the date that those OEM's say they should, and they were on the current software at that time. Again, as I said, maybe in 2026 they got everything to work back to those dates they originally said...I stopped caring, that was years ago, and those customers were taken care of then.

The OP got his question answered, we can move on. To anyone else reading this, I'm not sure it's really all that informative to most.

Thanks for your help!
Chris
