Near Intersection of I-35 & I-90 Southern Mn. | I have an 8310R with that radio but haven't tried removing it. I have removed other radios with that style of release tools. That was a long time ago and I don't remember the exact steps.
As I recall the release tools each push on some spring loaded tabs to move them out of the locking position. This means you have to wiggle them around and try to hit the "trigger" and then push the trigger in but yet at the same time try to pull the radio out. At the same time try to do the same thing with the other end. Three hands might be helpful but you would be in each other's way.
It might be possible to do one end at a time. I'm thinking, get the right end locking tabs released and then pry the right end of the radio out slightly so the tabs are beyond the locking point. Maybe stick a screwdriver under the right end to prevent it from going back in and relocking.
Then proceed with the same procedure on the right end. Once both ends of the radio are past the locking tabs, the radio may come out far enough that you can unhook the wiring and completely remove the radio.
Reinstalling the radio should be much easier. Plug in the wiring and the antenna, then push the radio straight in until all locking tabs spring out into the locking holes. |
