Subject: perhaps I am missing something....

Seymour, IL

I have worked with the farmdoc data rather extensively.... and have not seen any data on regenerative ag as you describe it.
There is the precision conservation management program which has looked at the incorporation of some soil health principles.
here is a link to their 2025 data book... https://www.precisionconservation.org/wp-content/uploads/2025/06/PCM...
However even PCM notes that it cannot demonstrate a clear profit advantage over conventional fields. And it does not note any significant decrease in inputs (all based upon FBFM data)

To your point on the Agronomy, yes there are basic agronomic tenents that underpin current production agriculture.
Time has passed, technology has grown.
we don't grow much open pollinated corn any more, most hybrid corns significantly out yield and are cost effective.
Chemical inputs have risen dramatically also. I remember hours upon hours of row crop cultivating as a kid as there were not many effective herbicides...

I have seen some of the organic information that shows how it can be a more profitable system.  However it is dependent upon two important caveats.... getting through the certification, and not losing market premium.

if you have a system you think works for you, that is great.  If I was to change mine, I would need clear data (such as provided by farmdoc or other trusted research) to be able to provide to other owners to demonstrate how profits will increase and land improvements will be made.

a link to that data that FBFM, FinPak or other data showing the economic comparisons of the low input systems would be appreciated
