Subject: RE: Slugs in NT soybeans??

Southeast MN
I have fewer slug issues since going back to beans not treated with any insecticide. Seemed like the seed treatment might have been suppressing slug predators but can’t prove it.

Planting green is tough though. I use oats as cover so it’s dead in the spring and have gone back to using a coulter with the sharktooth row cleaners. The idea is to have a black dirt strip right in the row so there is no cover for the slimy buggars.

No cover in the row means if they want to eat my beans they risk getting eaten by birds or other slug predators.
