Subject: RE: Momentum oats??

SD Momentum was released (along with SD Titan) to replace Goliath. SD Momentum has great yield potential and test weight. It does get tall, but stands much better than Goliath. Great straw. Lodging can be an issue, just watch your fertility levels. Less is more. It is resistant to crown rust as of 2025, but a fungicide at FLAG LEAF will ensure a good crop if rust races mutate.

Rushmore is great, but SD Ranger will be replacing it. Has better yield potential and stands pretty good too. IF you go with Rushmore or Ranger, you absolutely must spray with fungicide at FLAG LEAF. Rushmore's resistance to crown rust has diminished over the years, and is now susceptible. SD Ranger is only moderately resistant, so a fungicide at FLAG LEAF (not with your herbicide) is strongly recommended. I'll be planting these at home this year.

Email me if you have any other oat questions, I love this itchy crop.
