I plant a few, and I mean 2.5-5 acres of oats a year. Bale when ripe. Give to sheep, they love the oats seeds and then have a nice dry bed.

I give to them to flush, coldest time of winter, the mud time and, after lambing if any are left. But we have good pasture by then.
