I don't know that this would be necessary but wouldn't be terribly hard to do. That is to put a switch in the PWM wire leading from the control module to the PWM valve. That way you would have the option of flipping the switch OFF which would insure that the PWM valve would stay or go closed thus stopping the pump. With the switch OFF, the PWM hydraulic valve would close no matter what the controller is trying to do.

That is what I did with my Hagie STS-12 with PWM hydraulic control. This was quite easy on the Hagie since the previous owner had already done something like this and a loose switch was still in the dash. This is with an Ag Leader system. Other systems may have a way to guarantee that the pump can be stopped.

The switch I used was a DPST lighted rocker switch. This is really just two separate switches in the same enclosure side by side. The two "sides" are separate but go ON/OFF with a single rocker. An indicator light is part of one side. That side has an input, output and a ground. The light goes ON/OFF with that side of the switch. The other side has an input and an output but is not connected to the light.

I connected 12V to the input of the first side, nothing to its output and ground for the light. The PWM wire from the controller to the PWM valve was connected to the two terminals on the other side. This means with the switch ON, the light would be ON and 12V would be available on the output of that side but it is not connected to anything. The circuit for the PWM to the hydraulic valve would be connected, This would be the "normal" operating position and the controller would control the hydraulic valve and the pump.

With this pump switch in the OFF position, the indicator light would be OFF and the PWM line would not be connected to the PWM valve so the oil flow would stop which would cause the pump to stop.

We use this pump switch in our Hagie whenever we want to be certain that the pump will not run such as when the tank is empty.

Maybe you wouldn't use the switch on a regular basis but it would still be available for those times when you want to be certain that the pump is not running. With a tractor, shutting off the SCV running the pump should accomplish this in many cases. With the Hagie, this was a simple install and is reassuring to know that the pump is not running.
