You’re full of it. Still a lot of Dryland acres in Nebraska. I’m less than 10% irrigated. I get about 20” of rainfall on a normal year and my irrigated ground has a 9” water allocation from ground water pumping. We can get by. Gets expensive.
I’m also on a surface water board of directors. We are only going to run 2 out of our 4 canals this year due to lack of water in a couple of reservoirs. No “just flip a switch” for those guys this year.
