Subject: RE: To the young guys- inheritance

EC Nebraska
I was at an estate planning seminar with Dr Kohl from West Virginia as the speaker. I remember him giving an example of a farmer with a son and 2 daughters who married and left the farm for good jobs. The son worked for 40 years of sweat equity and they didn't do any planning. Well he said they ended up giving the son 1 percent per year of their total assets which amounted to 40 percent of the assets for 40 years work . The remaining 60 percent was split evenly between the 2 daughters and son that farmed. Thus the son ended up with 60 percent of the parents assets and each daughter got 20 percent. That seemed a whole lot more reasonable than splitting up equally of 33 percent .
