| This is something everybody deals with eventually. My dad didn't want to deal with it my mother was the survivor she thought otherwise. What are really talking about is high land values. The rest is depreciable assets. But your own equipment. Operating siblings can pay the trust a fair rent and take their share of that. They idea of buying out heirs at current land prices is just stupid. No business would make that work. Mom made it a irrevocable Trust not touched for 10 years an can continue if chose too. I don't if that will work in long run. Don't have a family helping now. Son and daughters have good careers. We are not big enough to support 2 families. We have always farmed to live and live to farm. I love the business but is just a business. | |
